Living and working for a year in war-torn Ukraine was undeniably a life-changing experience. Especially on a human level; despite the appearance of normality that characterizes daily life in Kyiv, seeing the suffering etched on people’s faces every day, feeling powerless in front of the challenges they meet, trying to offer moral support through dialogue, understanding, and solidarity… These were the thoughts that invariably crossed my mind each morning upon waking. So, to try to better understand the daily lives of Kyiv’s inhabitants in 2025, I spent my free time exploring the capital and its surroundings, particularly the residential neighbourhoods, from north to south, east to west, on foot and by bicycle. These images are the real-life visions of those urban wanderings.
